Alumni Spotlight: Jim Sheahan, Class of ’79 Retires

Brother Jim Sheahan, class of 1979 has retired from the Marine Corps Reserve after 34 years of service.

Sheahan, married to his wife, Laraine Smith for 31 years, have three children, Patty, Sarah and James, a Missouri D-Chi alumni. Jim is also grandfather to a future D-Chi, Kai Sheahan who is three years old. Currently employed at Wiese Planning and Engineering as a product manager, he served 3 tours in Iraq and recently finished a year in Afghanistan and retired as a Colonel.

  • Defense Meritorious Service Medal
  • Meritorious Service Medal with 2 gold stars
  • Navy Commendation Medal
  • Navy Achievement Medal
  • Iraq campaign medal with 3 stars
  • Afghanistan campaign medal
  • Global War on Terror expeditionary medal
  • Armed Forces Service medal
  • Nato service medal
  • and many other unit and personal awards

I am extremely proud of the tremendous progress that the chapter has made and look forward to more growth and improvement. Would like to see more involvement from Alumni as we find a way to secure a chapter house in the near future.”
